There was some very good info. in tonight's program, but why did you not broadcast this information before ? One week before Christmas is too late for many people to make use of the info. They have already bought Christmas presents and probably cannot get refunds since they have lost the receipts or, the sort of retailers you featured, are no longer traceable. Also, some people may have purchased the toys as Birthday present or as a gift for a child at some other time of year.
I think that the show was an excellent means of publishing the poverty of a vast amount of Britains elderly living on state pension.
It is disgusting that British elderly people have to live this way.
WHY DO WE SPEND SO MUCH MONEY ON IMMIGRANTS,CRIMINALS AND MP'S SALARIES????????
Why are the Dispatches programmes NOT avaibale via C4's 4oD ?
surely there must have been more comments
than Deborah Bowen's about poverty among
state pensioners? I think the public prefer to ignore this issue because it's
not 'sexy' and it's too embarrassing to
be told that this outrageous cruelty to
people who fought for this country, suffered terrible loss, paid their dues
to society,is happening on their doorstep, not in africa or other far country.
Shame on this government for keeping
pensioners in poverty and invisible.
Shame on 'celebraties'who love to make
a very public song and dance about their charitable activity, and have nothing to say about wretched, lonely old people.
Re the Dispatches programme shown in March "Lost Generation"? I am a Public Health Director in South Tyneside and would like to make a donation to the children's hospital in Jordon (or directly to the children injured and affected by the war in Iraq). Can you please send/email me any contact details.
High Court decision expected in the next few days in the case of Floe V Ofcom, will make all subcontract mobiles illegal ,IE. Virgin Mobile. This a clumsy attempt to stop GSM gateways which halve the price of mobile calls. The high cost is a tax on the UK users in lieu of the £20 billion paid for licences
Well...even before the prog is shown, I would like to tell you why I am against muslims.
Their religion is constantly telling us that it is to dominate the world.
It treats non muslims as second class citizens today in muslim countries, they have kittle rights and almost no religious rights.
Islam is saying that it will turn the world into "The house of Islam" or "The house of war".... we are to be converted or live as "dhimmis" (Islam word for third class)...but if you are jewish its convert or death.
Islam is xenophobic and hates Jews, determined to eliminate their race.
All the time we see muslims whining and whinging about their Rights in uk...What they really mean is they want to dominate us.... well, they aint dominating this kafir.
I am not racist, I have lots of different friends who are black, brown and two yellow.... I HATE Islam because it is set on "Destruct" and our governments sleep.

I would like to view the recent HPV-cervical cancer documentary on 'Dispatches' shown on C4 in July. I would really appreciate it if you could give me a link. Thanks.
I just wanted to congratulate Jane Moore on this program. It was about time someone made this public. I find it unacceptable that it is legal to put all that rubbish in wine without even stating it. I suffer of asthma, and its realted to allergies. My allergies change every 6-8 months so I need to make constant blood texts to keep up with them and I do find unacceptable that I am not able to know what I am drinking. Last time I drank a glass of champagne I almost died so now I don't drink any wine at all. French wine is the worse, at least in Italy it's illegal to put sugar or other chemical staff. The law should be changed so that peopel who suffer of asthma like me won't risk dying anymore.
Thank you Jane, keep up the god work for all of us !

I used heroin for 7 years. My turning point was when i became pregnant.I went into treatment straight away, taking prescription methadone.Within 6 months i reduced sufficiently to come off methadone.2 months later my daughter was born completely drug free.I have not touched opiates since that time.i have stayed clean now for 6 and a half years, i am a drug worker and am doing a diploma in counselling. It can be done, drug users and their families need help and support through their jouney, with aftercare being an essential part of that.If people knew the reality of what heroin does, they wouldn't do it, unfortunately it has an unbelievably overwhelming power over the user, so that when addiction kicks in they are blinded by it's seduction.........heroin is destrucive and evil.
I LOVE YOU
I am 55 and lost my job last year. Many years ago I worked in a bank and some of my friends from then still do.A job came up in a small sub branch ,mornings only, mainly ederly customers. A friend recommended me, and I had an intervieaw with a local member of staff and someone from head office. I know from what was being said that the local lady wanted to give me the job but was taken aside by the other lady and I heard her say "it's hardly a career move, is it". Needless to say I didnt get the job and despite applying for many jobs since have not had 1 interview.I'm very fit ,healthy, never have time off sick ,sociable, willing to learn and won't leave to have a baby or need time off if a child is sick.So for now I am doing voluntary work and enjoying time spent with my grandchildren but I do find it very depressing that I am considered worthless, job wise.
I just want to say how your programme was spot on . I was made redundant September o8 im 45 5ft 7 an ex model no children very fit active , no time off sick, very reliable and hardworking.Wrote to the Derby evening telegraph on this very subject as i had an interview with a young fashion brand and very established and i did not get the job because i was not culturally right for the brand, im Black British so that begged the question....now i hear the same excuse given to the older people featured on this documentary i know now exactly what it means as this is the second time it has happened to me. Recruiters i have joined 3o of them and i get passed on to their colleagues and never hear a thing. One of the questions that are always asked by the young upstart brash recruiter , and how old are you ?then you never get a response . A suggesstion to all that write on this web site we all ought to do a NAME AND SHAME.As i have been in young fashion retail for some years the absence rate due to personal problems from young, staff is rife and a detrement to anyones buisness and in this current climate ...im at breaking point with this situation and we all should make a stand ...after all isnt AGEISM supposed to be illegal .We all work hard for our savings , lets keep hold of them . Dispatches: Too Old To Work
I am sat here tonight (for the record I am a Managing Consultant within a very successful Recruitment Agency) watching the above programme with my husband (Recruitment Manager) and my house-mate (Ex Recruitment Consultant) and feel that this documentary is completely mis-leading and negative about the recruitment industry.
This programme does not reflect the reputation of credible recruitment companies who make every effort to put the best person forward for the job. I can't help but feel this documentary tried to use recruitment companies as a smoke-screen. I would like you to think whether it is the fault of the recruiter of their clients who do not respect the concept of equal opportunties - once again, the recruitment consultant does not interview the candidate and offer them the job - that is the client, that the recruitment consultant simply represents.
What people reading this need to understand is that agencies regularly do not get feedback from clients when CV's are submitted. This leaves the candidate very disappointed and the consultant in an even more difficult situation. Credible recruiters will explain this to you, but ultimately, they can not "make up" feedback to make candidates feel better and I believe this then fuels other issues. Nobody likes rejection, which results in candidates analysing why they did not get the job they applied for etc.
Yes, there is a HUGE problem in society - I will accept that but (for the record) I have a parent who I can not help in to employment(even with my contacts) and I have a huge amount of sympathy for those suffering. But we need to point the blame elsewhere - it is too easy to blame recruitment companies who seem to get blamed for so much already.
I recruit for an industry which values experience, usually lots of it and it could be argued that younger candidates are at risk of being descrimated against. Lets open that up for debate ...
Again, I and my fellow co-workers work hard. We try and steer clear of clients with unreasonable recruitment requirements and we also try to educate our clients on what is acceptable and not when recruiting. Lets actually give recruitment consultants some praise for this without the honest and genuine ones out there - the situation could be worse!
FALSE ECONOMY
NB Crunch the Call Centre [ my squidoo website- lens website] Why are you deceiving us that help is available these helplines[ facade] only help themselves as directed by accountants acting on suspect surveys. You operate in same undemocratic way trying to make out over 60 OK physically & mentally . It is not that it is purely the over 40's earn more and seen to be cheaper if someone younger or from foreign parts superseding . When I was forced out by LA - teaching with post the youngsters ere starting at same salary ??!!Recent MA round this
I was watching your excellent program, you mentioned that just less than a Billion £ in fraud in the benefit system, this is a drop in the ocean compare to the money been paid for the banks recently.
The local government demanded the over payment of just over £400.00 in benefit which they paid me over 2 years ago, and as I am claiming since last year benefit as I am on JSA, they started detections of the money.
They should demand the money from city executives and market gamblers who collected millions in bonus paid over many years and have million in their bank accounts even if they lost their jobs.
My point is they usually come after the poor people with the full power of so-called “The law” but the rich go scot-free, and get a way with it.
The show was very upsetting and a eye opener.
Why did'nt dispatched go to thoses boys parents and talk to them. Just dont understand. Any Mother or Father would be shocked at what they had said and would question what have they taught their kids. If the parents are absent, then this is a major issue. It also should have approx figures, as every young Black male should not be targeted as a rapist.
Any rational thinking human being knowns that any form of rape is wrong and inhuman. But this documentary is a disgrace for only highlighting the black young ignorant teenagers who live in estates. (After seeing the doc you should of called it ˜Why do black men/boys rape and how?) Totally ridiculous.
All involved should have looked at the social problems of all men and not 56mins of focus on the black community and 3 mins talking about a family in the north west of England. For the presenter to keep asking experts ˜Is gang rape a black problem? is wrong.
People making this documentary should produce facts and look for answers/deterrents to stop all people from thinking rape is ok and stop blaming music. The mindset of these people are the problem.
I was deeply disturbed and shocked by the programme dispatches on monday, I still feel depressed. I think what shocked me most was that these werent loners or thugs or wierdos, these terrible crimes were done by teenagers some as young as 12. I disagree with the previous comments that its it wrong to highlight that these crimes are often done by gangs of black youth, however it was overemphasised. White men are guilty too. What I think is crucial is that something is clearly going seriously wrong if youth from some estates feel so disaffected and so out of sync with scoiety that they can consider this as an ok thing to do.
More needs to be done by social workers and other professionals to work with these men and their victims and change attitudes to women. I was also shocked about some of the notions re consent.
As a young 25 year old woman, I feel almost that I have been left scarred by watching this, obviously nothing to what the victims went through. I want to know what is being done, because clearly punishment not really a solution
THIS SHOW IS RACIST TO COMPLAIN VISIThttp://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/progs/
The programme shown yesterday (7/9) focusing on afghanistan and the effects of PTSD ( post traumatic stress disorder)suffered by some former soldiers.
This is nothing new. I have been battling on my own since 1991 not in Afghanistan but with the MoD and the veterans agency here in the UK who simply will not even consider paying compensation for partial loss of eyesight and PTSD attributed to active combat service. E.O.K.A. terrorist's Cyprus 1955 - 1959 there are 371 soldiers in the military burial ground graveyard at Kyrenia Cyprus, there was no 'home comming' for them most are probably conscripted national servicemen, the ministry of defence is reluctant, none co-operative.
please go to facebook and join 'support the soldiers mental health' group.
trying to raise awareness, reduce stigma and give support to the soldiers to go for the help that they may need. thank you
Dispatches is one of the best programmes.
My comments on "christmas on credit":
The poor have always paid more. The BBC TV licence department also demand nearly double,if one can't pay by direct debit-They also get away with it!
