Stephen Fry journeys across America, hoping to learn more about the country that has always fascinated him. On this leg of the journey, he hopes to find out what makes The South so distinctive. Along the way, he joins a group of West Virginian coal miners, makes blue-grass music in Tennessee, and flies above North Carolina in a balloon. In South Carolina, Stephen learns the language of slaves, and he is invited into a Georgian family's house to join their Thanksgiving celebrations.
