The comedy centred around a bus depot and the working-class family of one of the drivers, Stan Butler, played by Reg Varney. Other characters included his lecherous conductor Jack (Bob Grant), Inspector Blakey (Stephen Lewis), Stan's sister Olive (Anna Karen), her layabout husband Arthur (Michael Robbins), plus Mum (Doris Hare).
