Paul Buchman is a filmmaker/documentarian and Jamie Buchman has worked with advertising and PR at several places. Other characters on the show are Paul's and Jamie's dog Murray, Paul's cousin Ira, Jamie's sister Lisa, and Jamie's friend Fran.

Paul and Jamie met in December of 1989 at a news stand (where Jamie hi-jacked Paul's newspaper) and they were married in 1992. Jamie recently gave birth to their first child, a girl named Mabel.
