Rick Spleen is an aspiring comedian who struggles to get decent gigs in order to pursue his career and ends up making ends meet by hosting small corporate events at local venues such as Frozen Goods Awards Evening.

Rick's habitual yet incompetent lying often leads to him often attempting practical tasks himself in order to avoid paying professionals and his partner Mel is a talent agent whose clients are often gaining their 15 minutes of fame which further highlights Rick's failing career.
