Running Time: 40 minutes (approx)

Classic BBC situation comedy inspired by co-writer Jimmy Perry's ('Dad's Army', 'Hi-de-hi!') experiences in a concert party during World War II.

Sergeant Major "Shut up!" Williams is in charge of the platoon of misfits that make up the Royal Artillery Concert Party. The series moves from India to Burma as the Sergeant Major attempts to make soldiers out of the "load of poofs" that he has been lumbered with. All but one of the platoon are determined never to fight the Japanese on the front line, despite the Sergeant Major's endeavours to make "real men" out of them.

Starring Windsor Davies as Sergeant Major Williams, Melvyn Hayes as Bombardier 'Gloria' Beaumont, Don Estelle as Gunner 'Lofty' Sugden, Donald Hewlett as Colonel Charles Reynolds, Michael Knowles as Captain Jonathon Ashwood and Michael Bates as Ranji Ram the bearer.
