When Eddie calls off the wedding, Sam pulls out all the stops to reunite the superstitious lovebirds, but while he's doing that, Father Berry calls to say that because of the delays, he's had to cancel the wedding. Persuaded to bend the rules, he agrees to wed Eddie and Carla in the rectory, but the 4:00pm deadline for the nuptials is also missed. Even though the couple is convinced their marriage is doomed, they go through with the wedding. Sam just about has the newlyweds convinced that their superstitions are groundless when the phone rings. It's Eddie's team, the Bruins, telling him that he's been cut because he's too old, Carla, instead of becoming a happy housewife is back to singing drinks.
