Senator Gary Hart makes a cameo appearance at Cheers in an episode in which Sam's relationship heats up with Councilwoman Janet Eldridge, who convinces him to fire Diane and all ties with his past - but she (Diane) beats him to the punch by quitting. As Sam tries to juggle Janet and Diane, Norm is in the uncomfortable position of having to restrain his sister-in-law's sexual advances.
