Black-Adder The Third (1987)

Running Time: 30 minutes (approx)

Production Year: 1987

Production Country: UK

The Black-Adder sitcom series moves to the Regency period for what some consider to be its finest hour. No longer aristocracy, Mr E Blackadder (Rowan Atkinson) is the butler to the foppish, faddish and intellectually challenged Prince Regent (Hugh Laurie). Baldrick (Tony Robinson) - even more stupid than before - plays Blackadder's own servant. And adding spice to the mix is raucous Cockney Mrs Miggins (Helen Atkinson-Wood), the local pie-shoppe proprietor who has her heart set on Blackadder.

Although there were less regular characters in this six-parter, there were plenty of fine cameos to compensate. Robbie Coltrane was especially memorable as Doctor Johnson, Kenneth Connor and Hugh Paddick were on top form as actors Mossop and Keanrick, while Nigel Planer and Tim McInnerny played fops. Good fun all round.
