This fantastic series has been running now for an astounding 43 years totally unbroken. Not only has it been running for this length of time the remarkable thing is that Patrick Moore has been the one and only presenter for every transmission, each month. This makes this BBC programme the longest-running TV programme in the world.

Since its launch, the universe, as we know it, has changed considerably. Patrick has successfully entertained viewers of many generations with the fascinating developments, new and static, in astronomy.

In the process he has encouraged a number of astronomers, both professional and amateur, who have started on their careers by watching the programme.

This is a truly inspirational and educational programme.
