Upon arrival on a planet, that is home to a continual battle between its two civilizations over the Stargate, they are met by a scientist called Nyan who explains that their arrival through the gate supports his rivals' beliefs that the gate was used by aliens to deliver humans to the planet. His beliefs however supports the reasoningthat humans evolved with nothing to do with the gate. When the Nyan's leader (Rigar) hears of SG-1's arrival he imprisons and interrogates the team to how they got there. On discovering that the entire belief system of his civilization can be proved wrong by the team Rigar sets out to destroy SG-1 as well as the gate. Now its up to Nyan and Teal'c to outwit this race before Rigar does what he has been threatening.
