Daniel and Teal'c return to Abydos. On their arrival Daniel discovers his wife is 9 months pregnant by Apophis who is planning to use the child as his new host. Now Daniel has to get Sha're back to Earth before the baby is born and the dormant Goa'uld awakens, but they are prevented from doing so by Heru'ur (Apophis's enemy). Teal'c comes up with an ingenious plan to use the two's rivalry for each other to help them escape. Meanwhile back on Earth, Carter is told by her father that he has cancer, and a reporter informs O'Neill that he is going to run a story on the Stargate programme.
