Bra'tac pays a surprise visit to Stargate Control with the news that the Goa'uld, Apophis, survived his ship's explosion and kidnapped Rya'c. When the team return to Chulak they find that Teal'c's wife has remarried Teal'c's friend Fro'tak, presuming he was dead. Rya'c has been brainwashed and has denounced his father as a traitor, thus thwarting SG-1's rescue attempts. These attempts are further impeded by Fro'tak who tries to betray them due to his jealousies concerning his new wife and her ex husband. When things are starting to look up when Rya'c slips a hidden message into his denunciation of his father, O'Neill suspects that a deadly trap is being positioned.
