SG-11 visited PXY 887, where they discovered an element that is a hundred times lighter and stronger than steel and is called Trinium. However the team have not returned and an arrow made from this element has been fired through the Stargate and into O'Neill's shoulder leaving the rest of SG-1 to negotiate a mining treaty with the planet's inhabitants. The team meet Tonané who explains that SG-11were taken by 'The Spirits' whom had previously given the planet's inhabitants the Trinium. The group remain skeptical even when SG-11 mysteriously reappear. When negotiations draw to a halt Tonanè returns with the two Stargate teams to find alternative mining methods. However when Hammond reveals that mining will take place with or without the Indians agreement strange things happen as the spirits reveal their true nature in a desperate attempt to protect the Salish.
