The SG-1 team travel to Simarka where they meet an ancient civilization, which resemble our Mongols, called the Shavadai. Dr Carter has her life threatened as she will not stay in her place (women are second class citizens in their society) and is only spared when she saves the life of the chiefs son, Abu. Carter later becomes the unwilling property of the chief of the Shavadai's enemy after Abu tries to trade her and the deal goes bad. She is soon rescued from Turghan's tyranny by the SG-1 team. However it isn't over until Carter defeats Turghan in combat after he discovers his daughter's plans to elope with Abu.
