SG-1, disguised as monks, visit Chulak (Teal'c's homeland) to bring back a Goa'uld larva for study. The son of Teal'c, Rya'c, has now reached the age at which he will receive his larva, and Teal'c wants this process to stop as this will make his son a slave to the Goa'uld. However, on their arrival they discovewr that Teal'c's family have been banished and Teal'c must enlist the help of his mentor Bra-Tac to fight Jaffa warriors and find his family. However when they find the mother and son they discover that Rya'c needs the Goa'uld larva to enable him to survive, but the only one available is the one that is keeping Teal'c alive!
