Riker becomes the first Federation officer to serve on board a Klingon ship. Meanwhile, a virulent strain of bacteria is eating away at the hulls of both the Enterprise and the Klingon ship. The Klingons believe that the Enterprise is responsible and Riker's loyalties are put to the test when the Klingons plan to attack the Enterprise.
