Time waits for no man... except one. December 1971. Time-traveller Sam Beckett leaps into the body of a farmer who is in the act of holding up a bank with his two brothers. When one of the brothers reports to Sam that the bank manager had manoeuvred them into debt after entering a deal to build a shopping centre on their farmland, Sam decides to do what he can to help.
