Time-travelling scientist Sam Beckett leaps into the body of a New York cabbie and a whole lot of trouble when, still in a dazed state, he runs over a female pedestrian. But the woman just happens to be his guardian angel, on a mission to prevent him from getting shot by robbers and losing his chance to win the top-cabbie prize.
