Much to the cost to their private lives, many celebrities will testify that 'the camera is everywhere'. And these days, indeed it is. If a professional crew is not at hand, many news-worthy events may be witnessed by the cam-corder for later transmission. Demonstrating the power of the news camera, such momentous catastrophes such as the Space shuttle Discovery disaster, and the capsizing of the Herald of Free Enterprise, have been brought into our homes. The Gulf conflict in Iraq, and more recently the human unfolding story in the former Yugoslavia came into our homes, giving us almost first-hand knowledge of the devastation and cruelty taking place.
