Magnificant! A National Hero defending our shores from the Grey American Invaders. I used to live not a million miles from Formby Sands where the Red Population has been not only decimated but may even face extinction from the disease ridden American.
Please give to their charity to help continue Paul's work in his particular neck of the woods.

Shame the program mocked the few hard working people who care about the future of the Red squirrel.
Surely there must be a subject which would benifit from there ridicule such as the rise of PC or perhaps the rise of bad documetary makers

Every dead gray squirrel is a bounus and helping to maintain our wild life.
Perhaps every house holder should help reduce the Population of the gray squirrel.

Before the last war my father ran a small farm, on a landowners estate. Allthough very poor sight ,he would shoot or trap grey squirrel, rats moles and an odd magpie or two, hang them on a certain fence for a short period of time, so the passing gaimkeeper could see my father's efforts at keeping down vermin. When the pheasant shoot began, I think the second of october, my father was rewarded by a brace of pheasant.

I wish they would come to our village near Nottingham - they would catch sooooo many!! They are pests.
Hope Paul gets more funding and that proper national campaigns are launched to get rid of the Grey. It would be a tragic if the Red Squirrel is allowed to die out

It seems to me that a lot of your contributors should get their facts straight before embarking on some sort of vicious unjustified killing spree against a harmless animal. The case against Greys is, at best, not clear-cut. Man is more responsible for the Red's demise by removing and altering its natural habitat. Most of the Reds we now have are not native and were actually introduced when we wiped out most of our original squirrels using many of the same excuses we now use against the Greys. Please, think before you act.

I live fairly close to the area the programme was filmed. I had nevr seen a squirrel here until last year I saw a dead one on a nearby road. I wish he could work further south. There used to be a colony of red squirrels at Castle Eden Dene, but apparently these haven't been seen for a few years, but grey have been seen which is very sad.
I wish the project every success, and hope that when they have "finished" Northumberland they can move on to Tyne and Wear and Co Durham.
(I see form RSPP that if you are so inclined you can join for £10, or just make a donation to their costs.

It is not fair for people like the person below to blame the demise of the red squirrels exclusively on the grey ones. This is only a part of why they have died out.
I know of dogs and cats that cause far more harm, damage and nuisance. We wouldn't consider putting them in a bag and beating them to death with a club, would we? That's how many of the greys are killed (and that's the lucky ones).
Try to remember that this is a sentient being that can feel pain, fear and suffering just like a pet.
I like red squirrels too but I can't condone the brutal and vicious killing of the grey ones for something they have no control over and probably won’t make any difference to the eventual outcome anyhow.
It’s us that created this problem not the squirrels. Why should they now pay the ulitmate price?

We are over run with the blighters! 25 acres of young oaks stripped to nothing thousands of pounds of young saplings down the drain. Keep up the good work Paul, would like to send a bit of cash to keep your wheels turning. Where can we buy the traps please?

I had to write to say 'Good on You' can you appoint someone in Lancashire to do the same thing? Maybe we can start shooting partys on private land to speed things up, charging a nominal fee and bring back some of the old recipes for cooking the things so they can at last be of some use. We are in a credit crunch after all!
The programme was very good people need to know the understanding of what the greys are doing to our reds and our national hertaige i felt they could of been more pictures or filming of the reds but understand with the greys population taken over that may have not been possible get rid of this vermain greys and save our reds its our future

Hands off the adorable gray squirrels, you despicable barbarians in Great Britain! The real reason you barbarians kill those beautiful-in-and-out animals is your animosity toward the American people. You barbarians consider those valuable animals the AMERICAN INVASION! The gray squirrels DO NOT eradicate the super-adorable red squirrels. Red squirrels simply run away from the grays, as the latter are stronger genetically. The way to preserve the reds is to focus ON THEM, not to focus murderously on the grays. The number one killer of the squirrels are the bandit-drivers on the streets and roads. Conduct an educational campaign for them to stop killing squirrels. Put up “STOP for squirrels” road signs. Exterminate natural killer of squirrels – raccoons, hawks, falcons, eagles, etc. Protect and feed everywhere the adorable squirrels; ALL OF THEM!
You are lucky squirrel-murdering bandits I don’t live in your decadent country. If I caught you killing squirrels, it would be YOU who would be hunted by me, after being given one warning to stop.
