Dear Andrew
Another wonderfully illuminating series from you.
I was particularly interested in your reference to Oswald Stoll in the first episode. In the early 1880's Oswald Stoll proposed to my grandmother but she refused him! She was a very accomplished musician and must have met him somewhere in the theatrical/musical milieu of Liverpool. I would imagine her mother, who was a formidable Scots woman if photos are anything to go by, would have firmly opposed any such liasion. The sad thing is she married a restrictive and mean minded man and all her creative talent was abandoned and the rest of her life was devoted to her four sons. But what if!?
I look forward to this weeks programme and the rest of the series.
My grateful thanks.
Kindest regards
