I watched the programme on the Liver on Tuesday night. What a shame that Primary Biliary Cirrhosis wasnt mentioned. It is a disease where the bile ducts become blocked causing the liver to function abnormally. The end result for patients where cirrhosis has damaged the liver extensively is transplantation. The disease is not induced by alcohol and is the major cause for transplantation in the UK. Unfotunately when you tell people the name of the disease they automatically assume that you are an alcoholic. I get really angry when I hear of alcoholics being offered a transplanation through abuse of their own bodies where other deserving people have to wait.
I also would like to purchase this wonderful series on dvd - is this possible?
I watched Philip Barker last night going through the liver transplant, but it didnt mention how long he waited, my Father is on the waiting list for a liver transplant and it going down hill rapidly, he is under care at the Royal Edinburgh Infirmary, where he is due to go tomorrow to see how much the tumour has grown if it has, I wondered if you could let me know if there is any hope of him getting a liver transplant soon, or where I could find out more information.
I would like to purchase The Don't Die Young series. Is this possible?
