Ground Force
Alan Titchmarsh, present the ever popular British television series in which a group of professional landscapers/hardscapers create or transform a garden in two days (with a budget of 1000 pounds) as a surprise for one of the owners. Charlie Dimmock, and Tommy Walsh help Alan to create the surprise gardens, and have now become well known celebs themselves. The programme takes a similar outlook to the DIY BBC series "Changing Rooms", except instead of building cupboards, beds, or shelves they build water features, lay sod, plant trees/bushes, create tiles and concrete walkways, paint murals, and lots of other interesting things. On the return of the new series, the tweam have extra help on the carpentry front with the help of Richard, Tommy's friend! When is Ground Force next on TV?

Hi. We're great fans of Ground Force and my husband loves to get ideas and tips from the show. Unfortunately, however, progress is slow as we have two very young children who require a lot of attention. My husband is 40 on 13th February and it would be wonderful to surprise him with a garden makeover. I'm sure you have no shortage of requests, but please give us some consideration. We have a 90 foot garden, an overgrown vegetable patch and foundations for a shed (which has not yet materialised), not to mention something of a lack of fences! The long, thin shape of the garden seems to make it difficult to be imaginative. Please help us, Ground Force!! Thanks!
Hi My name is Nick and I'm 62. I'm asking for a make over of our fairly small garden. The basic area I'd like help with is an area 3.5 by 2.6 Mtrs. Just pulled over slated and slabbed so that my wife Sheila can spend time in a place that is relaxing. Over the last 6 years Sheel has gone through a really tough time. It's to long to write about but as a time line 1992 diagnosed with emphysema... In 1998 her mum came to live with us. Sheel nursed her through her emphysema. New years eve 2001 Mum in law died... 2002 became O2 bound under Dr Seema Brij... 2003 refused lung reduction at addenbrooks (dr said Your wont get off the table literally)after lenghty tests that took about a year. Brilliant Consultant Dr Seema Brij then referred Sheel to Leicester Glenfield for lung reduction which was successfull. During the consultation they found a neoendichrine carcinoid tumour fortunately on the area of lung to be removed. Following the op she developed a blood clot on the brain which caused pressure , which, despite many trips to her GP with extreme pain, and us eventually going to an optitions she had a shunt put in which empties into the stomach. During March 2007 and April 2009 she was trouble free. Then she developed a rash which one of our old Drs said chech for further cancer. Unfortunately test showed nothing until she was hospitalised in December 2008. By this time she was back on O2 and in distress. She was seen 2 wks ago and give a max 18mths and that is with Chemotheaphy. I'm quite DIY useful and would put my back into the job but my Dad is in Lincoln Hosp and my Mum is in Boston hosp and I've got my hands full. Could you help please Nick Hudson

Hi groundforce
You have been an inspiration to so many of my projects at my previous house but now I have moved house, I have reached a brick wall.I have built an extension but had to move 90tons of earth and this is still sitting in my front garden. the kids in the neigherhood love it when it snows(sledging) but my good wife mentions it everyday, god love her. I have made a start in the garden but my time is taken up doing the extension.if you are doing another Ground force Please send the calvery with trumpets and horns because I need reinforcements.

We have been living in our current house for nearly a year and have pretty much gutted it and started again. The house is looking lovely now but with the funds low and enthusiasm now lower we were wondering if we could have some help in the garden. We are getting married in july and will be having lots of family to stay so would love to have a garden to be proud of! My partner has been away in Afghanistan for the past 6 months and so it would be a lovely surprise for him!
Thanks for reading
Jo

Hi.
I was wondering if you could please help. My sister has just turned 30 and has lived in her home for nearly 10 years. She is really unhappy with the the garden and in 10 years, it has hardly improved.
She works so hard and in the little spare time she has, she spends it gardening. She has a number of wonderful ideas but unfortunately it's just to much for her.
I would love to see her happy and think it is about time she got the garden she's always wanted!
How can I ask the Ground Force team to help and give her a garden makeover?
Thank you,
Naomi x
I feel a bit of a fraud reading the other requests for help but nothing ventured nothing gained. My name is Georgina; I am 61 this year; disabled and have a 45meter jungle as my back garden. I have tried to plant roses in my front garden which is 14 1/2 wide by about 7ft long and I was in so much pain that I'm afraid to tackle my back garden. I would love to be able to use the garden all year round and enjoy the wildlife; perhaps even grow some vegetables and fruit for my friends and myself. Do you think I would qualify for some help?
Hi
I was wondering if I could enlist the help of the groundforce team for my daughter. She is a single mother of 2 teenage boys. She works full time, takes her boys to football training 2 nights a week, and at the weekend she watches them playing for their teams. On top of this she is studying law, to make a better life for her and her boys.
She never has any free time but does her best to keep her garden in order.
I would really love for her to have a nice garden to enjoy.
My elderly mother (79) who lives in Bedhampton, Havant, who had open heart surgery last may loves her garden, but is now unable to do a lot of it herself. We as a family are thinking of having her garden redesigned, she has fruit trees that need removing and beds that could possibly be changed to shingle and pots to make it easier for her to manage. We thought this would be a wonderful 80th birthday present to have it done while we send her away for a weeks holiday. Could you help us?
I would love to suprise my dad by turning our garden into my dads idea of a chinese theme,he has many plans and ideas for our garden. but working nights and often going away for work, running the house being a single partent and with other expencive improvements needing to be done to the house (new portch/front doors&bathroom) taking priority, he hasnt had the chance. he has recently had to replace all our fencing (both sides&back) it has left our garden in a mess with the rockory being broken down and bushes being cut down so the fences could be put in,we have been left with rubble to remove. i think this would be a great time to start on the garden from scatch. i would really love to get this done for my dad he deserves it so much and would mean a big start to gettin straight x.x.x
I dont know if this is the right place to apply but ...! We were recently able to buy a house of our own but the garden needs a lot of imagination and inspiration ... which my husband had and was really looking forwards to working on it. He was very suddenly diagnosed with the most aggressive form of prostate cancer in April this year (2009)at a young age. He has now had major surgery which means that he is now unable to put his inspiration into practice in the garden. (He is an avid watcher of Ground Force!) We also have a daughter who has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair who would also love to spend time in the garden but it is not really accessible to her. He would be so surprised if his vision could become a reality. Thank you for the joy that your programme brings to him.
We've been here 10 years. The garden another 120.
Theres a long path that splits at the top and 2 sets of steps either side of the house. They come together a the front door... Lovely eh? And theres an established collection of shrubs EVERYWHERE.
We're on a slant towards the road.
Seems sacrelgious, but a totally different plan would be wonderful.
My husband is able and has loads of ideas, but abroad working half the year.
He's building me a greenhouse just now. (making it up as he goes along, but he's an engineer and he's making it to make me happy so i know it'll be fabulous.
Anyway, I'd like our lovely garden to be considered for a makeover
All the best
Fiona

Simply, I have a huge garden/field situated half an hour from Alicante Airport in Spain, desperately lacking any beauty or relaxing corners. would Alan and the team like to take on this small.. challenge? Graveling helps, but TONS of it! I will treat you like flowers and feed and water you all! lotsa luv Carol X
Please can you help my mum with her garden, she has taken drastic action and killed the grass so as not to cut in the summer because she works so hard full time and part time and has brought up me and my brother for 20 years on her own. She will be celebrating her 50th birthday this September and what a great birthday present. She added money to her mortgage to do the kitchen and front garden but ran out and now she doesnt say but I know she gets upset when she looks at her back garden which has no where nice to sit when she returns from work.
Please can you help

I wonder if it is possible to nominate my son, Chris, to have a garden makeover. He has lived in Aviemore, Inverness-shire for about 4 years. When he moved in the rear garden was just grass (very long) and lots of weeds. He worked long and hard hours and never had a chance to do anything in the garden (except cut down the weeds!). A couple of years after moving in, his fiancee walked out on him. Chris now has to pay everything himself, which does not leave anything left over for the garden. I think he deserves a bit happiness and a "new" garden would be ideal. I do hope you can help, it would be a great "lift" for him.
Love
Ann Boyd (mum)
could you please if possible give me the contact details for ground force thankyou
How do you apply for ground force?
