Garden Invaders
Eighties pop diva-turned-gardener Kim Wilde and garden designer Nicola Mager join presenters Mark Evans and Nick Clark as this super gardening programme returns for a second series. The programme is a unique quiz show with a horticultural twist. It's the first quiz show with a horticultural twist. It's the first quiz show of its kind to throw down the gauntlet to a horticulturally challenged family in desperate need of help. Their challenge is to battle against the clock and win items for the ultimate garden makeover. The Invaders team tackles the most disastrous, diabolic and desperate gardens in a race against time with only 12 hours to complete the makeover. The pressure is on the family to try to win as many items as possible for their garden and the more items they win, the more dramatic the transformation. Joined by a team of student horticulturists, Kim or Nicola battle against the clock as each item won is used to transform a garden disaster into a Garden of Eden. From handy hints to tense trepidation, for the green fingered or the unenlightened, Garden Invaders has something for everyone. When is Garden Invaders next on TV?

We have a small garden, but due to a hectic lifestyle, kids and the normal busy-day-to-day commitments we have never been able to do our garden up. We would like to know more information about the show and how to apply.
Thanks

Dear garden invaders my fiance and I have recently moved a year ago and have a reasonable sized garden but really don't know where to start! We are told by friends we already have some lovely plants which were here when we moved. But were not very green fingered and keep killing what we already have. We plan to have a family very soon and our garden isn't very child friendly at all so would like to get this sorted with your help. At present we are concentrating on the inside as that too needs a lot of work! We would greatly appreciate any help you could give us. We live in a town called Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire.
i'd love to get some help in re-doing some things in my daughter's garden. She is a nurse, so works very hard for others, does not have much time or money. Last year she and her boyfriend had a serious tragedy in losing their first and much wanted baby 21 weeks into the pregnancy. Emma is 34 and trying to cope and start again but is very anxious, to have her garden sorted would go some way to put a smile on her face. Thanks. it is a small town garden in Brighton and has limited access getting materials through the house to do the garden.
Dear Garden invaders, We could really do with your expertise on how to get the best of our garden. I would love to suprise my husband and have a garden makeover. My husband works 6 days a week and my time is took up by work taking care of our two young children and running the house. We love the outdoors and would love our garden to feel like an extension of our house, in order for us to use it to its full potential. We are not really green fingered, so it would be nice to have your input and expertise, so it was easy to maintain, but so it looked lovely all year around. We appreciate you have lots of people asking for your help and thank you for taking the time to read this. Please could you let me know more about the show, how to go about applying and how much etc. Thank you!
Hi there,
We live in the welsh Rhondda valleys and have an absolute disaster for a garden! Since moving to the house 18 months ago we have almost finished rennovating the house but are at a loss to start the garden. It is a terraced plot that has a number of levels that have been built up with hardcore, bricks and patio slabs, then spanning the length of the garden is a swimming pool sized raised brick ornamental pond that has no fish! Its awful, we have no grass, plants or indeed living things (other than the dog) and my 2 young daughters hate it but we don't know where to start! Please please help us!

Dear Garden invaders
I'd like to find out how to apply to be on the show, it is not for me but my Dad, he has been an exceptional person and I would like to say a HUGE thank you for his help over the years (not forgeting raising my sister and I during our teenage years and even now we are grown up he is always rushing to our aid!!). He is no longer able to look after his garden as well and it desperatly needs work done to it!!! It is a scalene triangle shape and in one corner is the house, an atempt of a patio, there are no flowers, bushes, nothing, just a mowed lawn. Im sure there is more that can be done. Thank you
I would like to have a garden make over. I recently bought my house as I had to down size. I have a lovley garden, over 200ft long. However, it is in a mess and I have been doing some work to it myself. I am finding it hard going and would love a professional touch put to it. Are you still in need of some lovley but quite empty spaces to bring some glamour to? My kids would love a more interesting garden to play in. Jayne.
hi even though there are more deserving people out there l would love to ask that u help me in any way with my garden l moved to a larger house 2 years ago and the back garden is enormous to say the least and although l have some nice ideas of how l will one day make it look goodness knows when that will be l've never been lucky in competions or similar things raffle prizes evade me so if l was chosen for a garden makeover not only would l be so grateful l'd also be utterly shocked l'd definately put a lottery ticket on that day.

Hi there, i am just wondering about how you apply for a garden makeover, my daughter and her partner are expecting there first baby in august and the house they are living in has a large garden that was extreamly over run in the process of trying to sort it out the Grass has died and looks awful, it also has a steep slope from the top to the bottom which being pregnant means my daughter can't even go out into the garden and hang her washing out without risking a serious fall and as she is trying to work and redecorate the house while her partner works 7 days a week to keep them afloat they just haven't got the money or time to try and make it nice in time for the baby coming. I know it would make my daughter so happy if she were able to sit outside during the rest of the summer and know that as her baby grows up they to will be able to enjoy it together as a family. If you could make this possible i know it would make her so happy. Thank you, Susan Constable
I would like to apply for a garden makeover, i have lived in my house for 6 years now and tried on numerous times to get my garden done. I would like somewhere where my 5 yr old can play out as it is too dangerous for her to play in the street. My garden is quite large and very uneven hence the reason it has been difficult for myself and my partner to get started on it. Both myself and my partner work extremely long hours at work and would love to be able to relax in our garden at the end of a hard week.
PLEASE HELP

I would like to nominate my sister for a garden make over, as she is the most wonderful person i know. I know this is not about sob stories, but my younger nephew (now two)was born with a potentially fatal heart condition and therefore spent the first 18months of his life making regular hospital trips. Thankfully he is doing very well now, but it would be lovely for both the boys to have a garden to play in as a reward for their patience.
Unfortunatley the garden was ruined when the much needed conservatory was built, and my sister did not have the funds to fix it.
I am unable to express in words how grateful I would be if you were able to help her.

I would love you to come and suprise my Husband with a garden makeover. We've managed to keep on top of cutting the lawn since we bought the house seven years ago but now he wants to completely re-do it. We've moved a flower bed which was about 6tons of soil but don't really know what to do now. What with the weather mainly being useless at the weekend we don't get much time to get out there and do it. Our daughter is nearly two and we were hoping to have a barbeque in the garden with her friends but the way it is now it's not safe for her or her friends. Please can you help us out with this, it would be very, very much appreciated.
My husband hasgiven up work fulltime to take care of his nan. He said to his grandad just before he passed away that he would not let her go in a home, so what i wanted to do was give him somewhere nice to sit and enjoy the garden while he is at home most of the time looking after her. So i would be very grateful if you would consider my garden to be part of the garden invaders programme. thank you.
Pleeease help me. To surprise my mum on her 7oth birthday in Sept. She has just had a conservatory and part paved area laid to her back garden but I would really like some ideas on how to develop a low maintainance part of the back garden for her as she is alone now and unable to manage her large garden. She had someone to lay top soil around a poorly lawned area but this is of poor quality. To the top of this is a soiled area with mature trees which I think the trees could come out as they are planted in a large soiled area and when needs digging takes my husband a long time to do, Yours in anticipation, Many Thanks Sue.
Please, Please, Please can you give us some ideas for are garden as we have a 200ft garden and not quite sure what to do with it, would be great to hear from you. Thank you

Please help!
My fiance and I have just moved into a house and are currently saving for our wedding next June.
We have a large beautiful garden but never have the time/money to get it looking great due to saving for the wedding and working full
To have garden invaders transform our garden would be fantastic - we would love to have our family and friends round for barbeques.
Please consider us as it would be great to have the garden looking perfect.
Thank you! Becky :)
Dearest Garden Invaders !!!
If ever a woman deserved a garden make over Joyce North. She has been like my mother for over 12 years. She has brought up her two son on her own, worked full time, sometimes even two jobs to keep the family going. She took her mother out every sat and sun for 30 years till she died 2 years ago and has looked after her brother who had a stoke 7 years ago.He is now in a home, has his leg amputated and is in and out of hospital all the time . She visits him every day to make sure he is eating porperly and she has had to cut her job to 2 night shift a week as she is not fit herself to do more. She looks after evryone and is always getting let down by so called friends that are going to do DIY for her. She gives them the money for the parts and never sees them again. The last straw for her now is . Her garden ...She paid for a conservatory 2nd hand. and the job was started in Feb. The patio area was dug up and preparation started but the guy has got over £300 for the cement and other parts and has dissapeared. She is left with a tip for a back door and is neither fit to or have the money to sort it out.....This woman deserves a bit of luck her way for a change.
You can make dreams come true !!!!
Thanks for listening.

I am writing this in desperation with the hope that you would consider myself when doing a garden makeover, I have a garden that is simply 'boring' (it would be like a blank canvass to a painter!) it lacks everything!! I've been wanting to do something unique with it for the past 4 years but due to ill health, my father passing away suddenly, my relationship breaking up & loosing my job due to redundancy the last few years have been difficult to say the least, I live alone now & struggle to make ends meet.
Each year as spring approaches I look out & dream of how lovely it could be with a little hardwork a lot of thought & of course the spare cash in which to do it! (something I don't have)All I would like is somewhere to relax at the end of a hard day in the summer, to enjoy sitting out & appreciating the sunshine, it would be so fantastic for people such as yourselves to turn my canvass into a masterpiece of creativity! I'm not a particularly green fingered person but know that if my garden was transformed into a place of beauty it would give me the encouragement to learn & to appreciate the garden more. I have seen what wonderful things you can do & the joy you have brought to so many people, I would like to be one of those lucky people & hope that you will consider my application...Thank you for taking the time to read my request Karen. (The eternal optimist!!)
Dear Garden Invaders,
My friend Denise has been left with her front and rear gardens in a wild and overgrown state that includes building debris and broken paving, to name but a few, caused by unsatisfactory building contractors. They have also drained her from all of her finances that was meant to be used to cover the renovations of the gardens as well as the rebuild of what was her father’s dilapidated home. She has managed to save the property as a single parent from the hands of the local borough council who wanted to demolish the property.
This is just the tip of the iceberg that this remarkable woman has had to endure over the past few years. If anyone deserves a bit of luck or good fortune it is this lady! I would be more than happy to fill you in on the rest should you wish to consider her for your show.
Kind regards
Miss Jo Wright
Dear Garden Invaders,
I am wirting to you in a desperate need to transform my garden. We are first time buyers and have been in our house for a year now. Our house was in a desperate state when we got it, to the point that we could not live in it for the first two months. We have now got the inside of the house in a livable state however, we have now ran out of funds. Our garden initially looked like it had not been touched in ten years and we have attempted to do bits and piecies to it, but it seems to make no difference. All our neighbours have gorgeous gardens and we envy them. We are simply looking for a low maintenance garden which we can sit out and enjoy its scenery. We have applied to you as a last resort and would greatly appreciate if you would consider us for your show.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this. And keep my fingers crossed that i am considered for your show.
Emma

hi..me and my partner have 4 young children and a very unsuitable garden there is a high step from my door to the garden. it is full of holes and not much room for playing or dinning. so could u please tell me how to apply for garden invaders.
dear garden invaders,
i have just moved into my friends house as a lodger.
his name is david and he is a very very busy man.
he has lived in his house for a number of years but never got around to doing anything with his garden.
he is a very caring man, all of his spare time is spent on other people and not himself, he also works for the samaritans which as you know is a very worthy and caring thing to do.
he likes nothing more than to sit down in his garden and stroll amongst the weeds with a cool pint of real ale to relax for five mins before he starts giving his time up again to help others.
i would like nothing more if you would please come and help me to get his garden more relaxing for my friend and landlord so he can enjoy HIS time in a relaxing garden.
yours hopefully,
Amanda
I have a disaster of a front garden which includes two dingies of my sons and a trailor. I would hate to lose my hedge and very old pear tree, the front path doesnt exist. I also go against the grain as I love cottage gardens with old flowers and hate grasses, bark and stones. I also love a lawn as i like to lay on the grass as does my dog. I realize I would be a troublesome candidate but would so enjoy a beautiful garden that I cant manage on my own. Thanking you very sincerely Kathy Cox
I have a tremendous challenge for you if you are up for it. My parents moved to a bungalow recently, my Dad used to enjoy growing chrysanths (and tomatoes and beans) but as he is registered blind, he tends to stick to shrubs as opposed to flowers. My Mum seems to have suffered with her health after a stroke four years ago and can't help. The bungalow is fantastic but the garden is in three steep tiers and neither of my parents venture any further than their paved lower tier. They would benefit immensely from a small conservatory but that would take up the space they currently use to sit outside or hang their washing on a rotary line.
The first tier is paved (and gravel), the centre tier is sloped and mainly lawned and the top tier is like a meadow that has been left to it's own ends.
We are happy to help financially but haven't got a clue what to do or how to go about adjusting their existing garden.
Can you help us in Birmingham at all? I look forward to hearing from you and am happy to answer any questions you may have.
Hi there, how do we apply to be considered for the show? We have been in our house now for 2 years and tried in vain to get the garden looking reasonable - it's not a huge plot but has essentially been left by the previous occupants to become what looks like a country hedgerow with lovely fertile, but rather damp soil feeding an extremely impressive array of wild shrubs, weeds and a lawn of moss!!!
Hello there I have a real challenge for anyone willing to take it on. I have 3 very active retired greyhounds who love to chase each other round and round my back garden. What was once a bowling green lawn and the pride and joy of my late husband is now a muddy quagmire.
I love my dogs and they deserve some where to exrcise their long legs and like any retired atheletes they need to keep fit. I did look at an artificial lawn but this was so expensive way out of my very tight price range.
So I would love to have a garden makeover some where that is both human and dog friendly, I dont mind loosing the lawn, but am not into green concrete which was a friends only solution.
hi there, im a single parent of 3 kids, one with adhd,i i moved into my house in october and have just finished doing it up and now im on the garden, but ive came to relise i havent got a clue where to start as it is a large blank space , also because of my sons illness i dont really get much chance to go out in the garden and would be extremely happy if you could consider me for the programme and give myself and my kids somewhere where we can go and sit in the summer and chillout. thanks yvonne
Hello Team!
My wife and I love watching your programme and would like to enquire as to how to be considered for a 'garden makeover!'
It certainly is challenging for us, and has remained realtively untouched in the year and a half we have lived here, as we are both in the Royal Navy, and spend a lot of time away.
It is a spacious, three-tiered garden, the first of concrete, and the other two of lawn, all with massive potential.
We look forward to hearing from you, and shall continue enjoying your show in the meantime!
All the best...
Hi there,
I'd like to inquire how to apply for this programme? My garden is in dire need of some TLC and I would love if you could come and give it an inspirational Re-vamp?
Thank you,
Jackie

I just never know where to start and would love to show my mum just how much me and my other siblings appreciate her and all her sacrifices and see a smile on her face. i hope you consider my application.many thanks
Hi, I am contacting you for me (18), my mum, my sister (14) , and brother (4), live in a beautiful all thanks to my hard working mum. Although our garden isn't food at all. I would be so happy and without a doubt my mum too, if you would come and do our garden my mum is such a hard worker ages a single parent and has two jobs. Umfortunatmy she never tends to see any if her money she works for. It would make he the happiest person if she had our garden done readyfoe the summer she really deserves it. Well hope you have time to read and hopefully take ahead my comment. Thankyou very much for your time. Kay
We are in desperate need of help in our garden. As my husband is in the Armed Forces we have not a lot of time together. We try very hard to get our garden sorted but we never have enough time. We bought paving slabs but never had time to lay them. I would love to have a low maintenance garden with lots of slate and decking and as my husband has asthma he can't really sit outside with us with all the trees and shrubs we have at the moment. Palm trees and ferns in big planters would be wonderfull. Please help us!!!! As our garden is not the smallest, it will be a good challenge for you as well. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Hi, I would like to apply for your show. We haven't work on our back and front garden for over two years as we weren't expecting to keep the house and now we got the "secrect garden" in the back and "the african plains" in the front and we don't even know where to start to sort it all out.
We are in desperate need of some help.
Thanks,
Faye
Hi,
Please help! My Back garden is about 20x15 feet. Crazy paving everywhere. Can you please tell me how to apply. I love gardening and would love somewhere for my little boy to play without tripping. Thanks Kathryn
hiya, i am wondering how to apply to get my garden done up for my mom she is getting married in 2 months and then is becoming a student and is really down because, our large garden is really tatty and horrible. i really hope you can help i am her 13 year old daughter.
thankyou.
Hello!
I'm wondering how on earth you decide who's gardens to make over, with all these desperate requests that I've just read?? I thought it was worth a go anyway and would like you to consider using my brothers garden. He was in the army and stationed in Germany with his wife and two children until 3 years ago. After living in army accommodation for all of their married life so far, they bought their first home in Somerset which was very exciting for them and they have worked very hard on it but the garden still leaves a lot to be desired due to running out of money and time. They both work full time and dedicate the rest of their time to making sure their children are active and happy and are constantly running to brownies, rugby, football, you name it. They don't have a minute to themselves and my brother has just had an operation on his ankle, putting a stop, yet again to any improvements in the garden. It's really getting them down. There is a back entrance with a falling down garage that apparently has aspestos in the walls, the neighbours are growing old fridges and cookers in their garden so something tall might be nice! They constantly put everything and everyone before themselves so I would love to instigate something truly great for them, a little piece of sanctuary and peace of mind.
Hoping you can help, sorry if I went on a bit but it really could have been worse!
kindest regards
I would like to nominate by Brothr in Law Mark and his wife Mo for a garden makeover. They are a lovely couple and recently moved to a house with a long neglected garden, they are struggling to think of ideas and some input and help making this garden more manageable would thrill them both, They have a 4 year old and a Great Dane!
Hi, I would really like to find out how to apply for a garden makeover for
my partners mum and step dad.
After loosing his leg my partners step dad's ability to get out and about
has been dramatically hindered. My partners mother became his step dads full
time carer, and their garden became a haven for them both, it became their
restricted access to the outside world.
My partners mother has always taken great pride in her gardens for as long
as he can remember, always stiving to have the best garden in the
neighbourhood and enjoying being out and watching her hard work blossom.
Since becoming a full time carer , the garden also became her getaway, her
escape if you like.
Unfortunately she has now been diagnosed with emphysema and now she
struggles to take 10 steps without losing her breath. It is visibly breaking
her heart to see her garden fall into such dis-repair and not be able to do
anything about it. She has become withdrawn and depressed. It has got to the
point now that my partners step dad can no longer get his wheel chair out
into the garden and so spends the majority of the day now cooped up indoors,
which is not healthy for either of them.
We try our best to help out where we can, but have a family and household of
our own to run and therefore do not have the time needed, or the finances
available to renovate the garnden for them.
The garden is/was a high maintanance garden which at one point flourished
with all kinds of fruits and exotic plants, but is now in dire need to be
transformed in to a disabled freindly, low maitenance garden where they can
both sit in the fresh air and enjoy the view. Taking in what life still has
to offer, rather than wasting away feeling sorry for themselves in doors.
Thankyou for taking the time to read this. Please please help as they truly
deserve a break in life and I feel very strongly that this would make a
whole world of difference to them.
Yours hopefully,
Tammy Baker

I would like to nominate my dear friend for a garden makeover. She's disabled and has been struggling for a long time. She has a beloved dog who has completely ruined the back garden. There is no longer any grass and when it rains, it's a complete mud bath. Due to her physical condition it's impossible for her to maintain it. She is desperately in need of your expert help, and needs a garden that needs little or no maintenance (with an area for the dog !!). If you could help she would be over the moon and would make a wonderful difference to her difficult life.
Hi,
I would like to know how I go about applying for a garden makeover??? my back garden isn't very big but its still too big for me to know what to do with it!!!!! I would like to have a make over as a surprise for my 2 daughters, ideally so we can hold my eldest's 16th birthday out there, its not till May 2010 but I would love to be able to invite people round and not been ashamed of the mess outside my back door!!!!
Many Thanks
Hi There, I, like so many others here would love to find out how to apply for a garden makeover.
I'm a volunteer gardener and work alongside another two volunteers. We're based in the grounds of a day care centre for the Elderly and have been working towards creating a peaceful, therapeutic place in which our centre users can relax and enjoy the summer months. We work with the centre users growing small plants to grow around the garden and recently we have hooked up with a group of people with learning and physical disabilities and do planting workshops with them too.
We have a raised bed which is in the middle of being demolished in order to create a secluded cut flower garden with a small pond. We also need to make sure that our garden is suitable for wheelchair users and people who are unsteady on their feet. However I think we have bitten off more than we can chew! We have very little gardening knowledge to be honest but love working with all our clients. As a non - funded voluntary project, money is exremely tight ..... any help that you may offer would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Regards, Shiona

Hi, please could you consider my garden for one of your Garden Invader programmes. I have a very small garden with virtually nothing in it, my biggest headache is that I have no back/side access which means everything would have to come through the house. I am a single mum with a demanding job and hectic life but never seem to have the time to tackle the garden! Please help! Alison
I would love a garden make over so badly. My garden needs help urgently!!We are first time buyers, we bought i little two up, two down little cottage. We have done the inside up as much as we can, but the garden..well we dont even no where to start! It has three parts to the garden which could be made lovely with help, the top part is overgrowen and all im saying is that theres a bathroom sink in the ground up there, the middle part is grass but its in a mound and the bottom part is just concrete. The neighbours gardens are so well presented, its makes me really ashamed of mine.
