The Scrappy Races: Giant Archery

Series 1, episode 0

Four teams of madcap mechanics had six weeks and just £1,500 to build multi-task machines to race them across Britain. They're now ready to hit the open road for the first time and face the greatest challenges man and Mother Nature can throw at them. The madcap motorcade includes home county bobbies the Cops and Bodgers, driving their hot-rodded panda car complete with prison cell, suburban bovver boys the Knuckleheadz, with their SAS-style dune buggy, Scottish engineers the Tartan Starlets in a mini limo, and finally reigning champions the Chaos Crew in a V8-powered ice cream van. The teams race 100 miles from the start line in Suffolk to the 11th-century Rockingham Castle in Leicestershire. Waiting for them is an appointment with a giant archery circuit. They're provided with arrows but the teams must build the bows, which they attach to their radical roadsters. They have eight hours in a local junkyard to snatch up some scrap and transform their transporters. But who will be on target to win points towards the Scrappy Races championship?
