The true story of a former soldier who worked to ease the tension between native Apaches and new settlers in turn-of-the-century America. The negotiator's ambition to achieve a degree of autonomy for the tribes is complicated by the formidable Apache leader Geronimo's refusal to surrender to the authorities, and by his own marital problems.
