Opening instalment of a two-part drama about a lawyer who must defend his sister-in-law on a murder charge. While negotiating a custody settlement between his sister-in-law and her ex-husband, a US senator, the senator's new wife is found brutally murdered. Suspicion points to the ex-wife, so the lawyer turns to a fellow attorney and friend for assistance.
