Running Time: 125 minutes (approx)Production Year: 2003Rating: 15 CertificateProduction Country: USAFilmed in ColourMade for TVKathy Bates plays Grace Beasley, a middle-aged woman suddenly abandoned by her husband Max. Her one solace is a forthcoming concert in Chicago by her heartthrob Victor Fox, but he's murdered by the Chicago Crossbow Killer. On a whim, she flies to Wales for his funeral, where she meets his gay lover Dirk and, forming an unlikely alliance, the pair return to Chicago to find Victor's killer. Oscar-winner Bates and Everett form an oddball couple who share a sense of loss and use the hunt for the killer to fill the void in their lives. PJ Logan's third film, after Muriel's Wedding and My Best Friend's Weddding, maintains the comedy-drama level as well as the musical content with Pryce, who starred in Evita, once again showing he can carry a tune. Edited for language/violence.
