When pretty teenager Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) moves to small town Forks, Washington, to live with her dad, it's not long before the boys notice her. But on her first day of school, Bella's heart is lost to brooding loner Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). He seems disinterested until, in a move that defies the laws of physics, he saves her from an accident in the car park.

Now even more smitten, Bella pesters him with questions until he admits that he's a vampire - a 114-year-old one in fact - and that the temptation to sink his fangs into her is almost unbearable. Amid the teen intensity of raging hormones and forbidden love, Bella is targeted by another vampire coven, and Edward must do everything in his power to save her life once again.

A potent mix of high school angst, vampires and young love, Stephenie Meyer's bestselling book established a legion of teenage fans when it was first published in 2005. Three years later, Twilight's success was further cemented when the big-screen adaptation pulled in huge box office crowds and confirmed the Hollywood status of young stars Stewart and Pattinson.
