Four-wheeling soldier of fortune Frank Martin (Jason Statham) is strong-armed by vicious gangsters into transporting kidnapped Valentina Vasilev (Natalya Rudakova) across Europe and into Russia.

Fitted with a hi-tech bracelet that will explode if moved more than 75 feet from his car, Martin appears at the mercy of the thugs but is soon running rings around them as he plots his escape. Learning that Valentina had been drugged and taken hostage in order to pressurise her politically powerful father, Frank begins to fall for his passenger as the bad guys, led by the sadistic Johnson (Robert Knepper), close in on them.
