Written by Michael CiminoDirected by Michael CiminoAlso known as "Trueno y Pie Ligero"Running Time: 115 minutes (approx)Production Year: 1974Rating: 18 CertificateFilmed in ColourExcellent performances are given all round in this fast and furious crime caper-come-road movie. A young drifter called Lightfoot (Jeff Bridges) teams up with an ex-thief, called John "Thunderbolt" Doherty (Clint Eastwood) who once performed a daring robbery on a bank, using an anti-tank gun to blow the safe away, and who is now in disguise, running from the gang who are convinced he double-crossed them in a heist seven years before.. Now the two meet up while both on the road, but Thunderbolt's old accomplices are tracking him down and are close on his tail Now the motley crew forge an uneasy alliance as they temporarily puts aside their mutual suspicions to repeat the crime by attempting to rob the Montana bank vault - for the second time, all because they can't find the booty the obtained from the last break-in they did, which was hidden behind a school blackboard. The hardened artilleryman and his flippant, irresponsible young sidekick are the two wild cards in the deck of jokers. Possibly Clint Eastwood's least known film, this exciting Road Movie explodes with a violent climax which was to be mirrored in many of Clint's later movies. Many critics believe that Jeff Bridges, in an early starring role, steals the film and he was rewarded with his first Oscar nomination. When is Thunderbolt and Lightfoot next on TV?
