Oscar (Matthew Perry) is a very wealthy and successful architect who has a new client, Charles (Dylan McDermott).

Charles, wrongly believes Oscar to be gay, so asks him to spy on his mistress Amy (Neve Campbell), to make sure she doesn't go back to her old boyfriend and stays true to him.. even though he doesn't want to leave his wife.

As Oscar spends more and more time with Amy the inevitable happens and he starts to fall in love with her, but she also thinks he's gay.
