Tough thriller in which a former private detective is summoned urgently to Japan by a wealthy shipping magnate to rescue the man's daughter who is being held hostage by the Japanese mafia. Aided by a former member of the yakuza, he decides to take on the organisation - a task which proves both dangerous and bloody. Written by Paul Schrader and Robert Towne.
