Roberta Anderson stumbles on a thin peice of metal jutting out of the ground whilst walking in the woods behind her home in Haven, Maine.

Curious about what she has found, she bends down to get a closer look; her dog, Peter, doesn't like it and whines when near it.

In an effort to figure out what the thing is, Bobbi begins to scoop out the dirt around it, and in doing so, seals her fate. This is where The Tommyknockers begins.

Now the small town of Haven has become a hot-bed of inventions all run by a strange green power device.

The whole town is digging something up in the woods, and only an alcoholic poet can unfathom the secret that is the tommyknockers.
