The story of a jaded newspaper reporter who journeys to his ancestral home in Newfoundland with his young daughter when his abusive wife is killed in a car crash. He then begins to rebuild his life with the help of his aunt, getting a job as a shipping columnist for the local newspaper and dating a local single mother. Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by E Annie Proulx.
