Released in 2006, this thriller - starring Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, Eva Longoria Parker and Kim Basinger - doesn't always fire on all cylinders. That's a shame because on paper the casting looks top-notch.

The premise is reasonably promising - Douglas plays disgraced Special Agent Pete Garrison who must pit his wits against his former proteges, Agents Breckinridge (Sutherland) and Marin (Longoria Parker), and avoid capture long enough to unmask the real traitor. As he races to prove his innocence, Garrison's mission is further complicated by his romantic entanglement with First Lady Sarah Ballentine (Basinger).

The trouble is that the film feels dated, failing to deliver a convincing post-9/11 realism to proceedings. And, after a good start, the plot begins to labour and becomes predictable, with some of the storyline links stretching credibility. That being said, the cast is strong, and it's still worth catching.
