Espionage drama starring Sean Connery and Michelle Pfeiffer in which a dissolute British publisher is drawn into a web of intrigue when he becomes involved with a mysterious Russian woman. She is anxious to reveal to the West an important manuscript by a dissident scientist about Soviet defence systems, but the publisher is reluctant to take part in the scheme, until he falls in love with her. From the novel by John le Carre, with a screenplay by Tom Stoppard.
