The Archangel Gabriel (Christopher Walken) returns to Earth to prevent the birth of a child which has been conceived by the Angel Danyael (Russell Wong) and one of "God's Monkey's", a human woman called Valerie Rosales (Jennifer Beals).

The coming of this child has long been awaited and was prophecised by a monk called Thomas Daggett (Bruce Abbott) and must be stopped to save the world as we know it.

When Danyael starts killing off members of Gabriel's army he must take action's to stop him. Gabriel empoloys the services of a teenage suicide victim called Izzy (Brittany Murphy) whom he keeps alive to aid him in this war.

The climax of Gabriel's fight against Danyael and the other fallen angels takes place in Eden.
