Denis Dercourt's superbly assured drama proves that revenge is a dish best served cold. Déborah François plays Mélanie, the daughter of a provincial butcher who dreams of becoming a concert pianist. However, at the audition for the academy, an unthinking act by arrogant judge Ariane Fourchécourt, an internationally acclaimed pianist, sees her fail. Years later, Mélanie finds herself looking after the son of a lawyer Jean who turns out to be the husband of Ariane. Biding her time, Mélanie insinuates herself into the household, earning their trust and love until the moment is ripe to destroy them all. In French with English subtitles.
