World War II whodunit in which a German intelligence officer attempts to identify the man responsible for a series of brutal murders. The evidence in the 1942 murder of a Warsaw prostitute points to one of three Nazi generals. The officer follows the trail to Paris where, in 1944, an almost identical crime has been committed.
