A lonely young boy discovers a strange bookshop in the back streets of his home town. The crusty bookseller is taken by the boy's enthusiasm and lends him an obscure volume, which the boy takes to a hideaway to read. As he turns the pages, he is transported to the magical kingdom of Fantasia - created by the dreams and imagination of people on Earth. But as people lose hope and forget their dreams, Fantasia starts to crumble.
