Into the lives of Nialle Byrne and Neil Pilkington, teenagers looking after his alcoholic father Donal McCann, comes glamorous American Beverly D'Angelo. Byrne is determined to seduce her but she resists his charms while seeming to have a fascination with their father. Neil Jordan's film, set in the small Irish town of Bray, is about truth, trust, relationships both past and present and romance all wrapped in an air of mystery.
