The letter is beautifully written, but no-one knows who it is too, or who it is from which sparks curiosity, intrigue and makes the small townspeople look at each other in a different light. One such group of people start with Helen (Kate Capshaw). Helen is an emotional celibate, she runs miles and miles a day to burn off her excess energy which most people expel in the day-to-day emotional crisis' that arise. When she discovers this beautifully poetic letter whilst going through the mail at her shop nestled between the cushions of her settee cushions - seeing as it is on her property and it is unsigned, she assumes the letter is for her. This realisation melts the walls she has erected to protect her against emaotion and so starts an affair with a recently graduated employee called Johnny (Tom Everett Scott). He soon sees the letter and assumes it is from her to him and quotes some of the passsages - which inturn makes Helen think he wrote it for her! Meanwhile, in the background, are Helen's long-term best friend, George, who loves her unconditionally, and has done so for years. Also her mother who abruptly left on a long trip months' before this discovery. Now, discovering who actually wrote the letter brings insight and promise to all! Cast
