The true story of New York Times reporter Sidney Schanberg and his efforts to locate his Cambodian friend and translator Dith Pran after he was captured by the brutal Khmer Rouge while working for Schanberg in Cambodia in 1973. The film follows Pran's efforts to survive the Khmer Rouge regime and the purge of the country that took Cambodia into 'Year Zero'.
