Tense Cold War dramatisation of Tom Clancy's novel. The commander of a new, top-secret Soviet nuclear submarine burns his orders and sets a course for the east coast of America. A CIA analyst tries to establish whether or not his motives are hostile while both the Soviet and US fleets are trying frantically to track down the renegade submarine.
