Directed by David Cronenberg, this inspired 1980s re-make of the 1958 horror chiller stars Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis.

Seth Brundle (Goldblum) is a solitary scientist, obsessed with matter-transfer, whose life is interrupted by scientific journalist Veronica Quaife (Davis). She becomes fascinated by his work and by him, but when she goads Seth to experiment on an animate object, he chooses himself - and, unknowingly, an insectoid companion. On emerging from his pod, Seth (pictured) finds that he is not the man he used to be...

Highly recommended.
