Adding further layers to the original material, Pollack and his writers create an entertaining and suspenseful drama that features a committed performance from Cruise, and top-notch supporting turns from Gene Hackman, Holly Hunter, Ed Harris and Gary Busey. The first in a long line of films based on Grisham's novels, this tense thriller is likely to appeal to followers of his other courtroom-based chronicles. An involving, enjoyable watch.
