Engrossing WW2 flag-waver centred on the training and combat experiences in the Pacific of midwestern small-town farm boy Quizz West and on his romance, interrupted by the war, with Janet Feller. John M. Stahl's film offers a sensitive picture of service life which effectively balances the scenes of the couple's idyllic romance.
