The town's legendary athletic field, once the site of great sporting achievements, has gone to seed - and so has the standard of sport in the town. But the arrival of a beautiful British school teacher breathes new life into the local team, and they are inspired to new heights. Suddenly they are in with a chance of the State Championships, and win or lose they've learnt some valuable lessons about pride and the will to win.
